What is Code Agent?
Code Agent is a backup tool designed specifically for programmers.
How does it work?
It runs in the background and watches your source code. Any time you save a file, Code Agent backs it up and keeps a local history for you. It gives you a reliable backup for all your work, even in-between check ins.
I already use source control, why would I be interested in Code Agent?
Because Source Control sucks as a backup tool. It can only backs things up when you explicitly check in. If you make a mistake in-between checkins your source control system won't help. Code Agent will.
Code Agent is automatic. It just works. You write code like normal, and when something bad happens it's there for you.
I check in regularly, do I really need Code Agent?
We think so. Code Agent provides 2 huge benefits:
- It backs your code up, in case something bad happens.
- It keeps you from worrying about losing work. This lets you focus on writing code, not on process.
Does Code Agent replace source control?
No. Source control is a great change managment tool. Code Agent is designed to just be a backup tool.
How often does Code Agent backup my work?
As often as you need it to. It creates a backup every time you save a file.
What tools does it work with?
Pretty much anything you need to develop software on Windows. We've tested it with Visual Studio, Vi, Emacs, Photshop, Illustrator, Expression Blend, SQL Server Management Studio, and Notepad.
How do I get a copy of Code Agent?
You can download a free 30 day trial.
